The finalists for Converge 2021, Scotland’s largest entrepreneurial development programme for the university sector, have been revealed. Exemplifying the cream of Scotland’s innovation pool, and hailing from institutions across the nation, 28 academic entrepreneurs are now through to the Converge Awards Final which takes place on 30 September 2021.

A project for the development of a rapid, low-cost, antibiotic susceptibility test is among the winners in a Scotland-wide innovation showcase.
Dr Stuart Hannah, a Research Associate in Strathclyde’s Department of Biomedical Engineering and a Royal Society of Edinburgh Enterprise Fellow, won the Best Pitch award in the Converge Challenge category of Inside Innovation, in which 58 academic entrepreneurs from around Scotland made 60-second pitches for cash prizes.

The Royal Society of Edinburgh (RSE), Scotland’s National Academy, has announced its latest cohort of academic entrepreneurs who have been awarded Enterprise Fellowships.
Five innovators from the science, space and technology industries have been inducted into the RSE’s Enterprise Fellowship programme, and will receive an equity-free support package worth up to £100,000 to aid in the commercialisation of their work.
